Review: Dark Waters: A Mermaid Anthology

Dark Waters: A Mermaid Anthology Dark Waters: A Mermaid Anthology by Jessica Ozment
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this collection of mermaid tales. This is a set of stories that deal with mermaids and sea creatures, and each one is entertaining. My favorite was the final story...Liasa's Tail of Woe. It's a heartbreaking story about a young mermaid that discovers love right when she never expected it, just to lose it and feel she now must become a treacherous siren to avenge his death by consuming all the human sailors she can. I'd recommend this collection to fans of reading sea-related stories and books about mer-life.

Review: Incognito

Incognito Incognito by Siobhan Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. This is a sweet and sexy rocker meets 'small town' college girl story with just a bit of steam. Both parties have been exposed to similar negative past experiences, and still manage to discover their love for one another, despite that fact. If you are a fan of rock romances with a bit of looming danger and overcoming the odds, you'll enjoy reading this story.

Review: Mark of Loyalty

Mark of Loyalty Mark of Loyalty by Sarah K.L. Wilson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. I love all of these shorter episodes that can be read in such a short time, but still be packed with so much action and attitude. The team of Amel and Raolcan have quickly become my heroes, and every book just adds another layer of truth onto that fact.

In this story, a group of people gather to meet the chosen one, but when two women claim it is them...put them up to a test to prove who the true chosen one truly is. With this series, you definitely want to start with book 1 and read them in order (this is book 12)...otherwise you will feel a bit lost, since these stories build on each other.

I'd recommend this series for fans of adventure, dragons, and shorter than usual stories that can be read in an afternoon instead of over a series of weeks.

Review: Chelela, Book Two of The Elemental Diaries

Chelela, Book Two of The Elemental Diaries Chelela, Book Two of The Elemental Diaries by Andrea B Lamoureux
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed reading this book. It's full of adventure with quite a mystical presence throughout. This is the first book I've read by this author, even though it is labeled as book 2.

In this story, Celela is a water elemental. I'll admit the story itself is strongly more adventurous than strictly a romance (the romances that ARE included lack strong development, but since that's not the focal point of the story, I don't think it matters much), so don't pick it up expecting to find a romantic sort of a turnout or guaranteed HEA due to the fancy gown on the cover model.

I enjoyed reading it since I'm usually more of a Paranormal/Fantasy/Adventure seeker, myself. Chelela proves herself a true survivor in every page of this book, and I look forward to exploring more works by this author in the future. I'd recommend this book to fans of fantasy and adventures with a strong female protagonist.

Review: Mercy Brown

Mercy Brown Mercy Brown by Tiki Kos
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. Mercy sets out to try to make a way for herself, despite the fact she seems to have lost touch with her friends. If you are a fan of unpredictable dark stories with the possibility of a brighter future and lots of life-threatening situations along the way, you will enjoy this book. I'd also recommend this book to fans of vampires and paranormal stories, though you may want to start with book 1 in this series.

Review: Chosen: Curse of the Draekon Book One

Chosen: Curse of the Draekon Book One Chosen: Curse of the Draekon Book One by Samantha Britt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. Lissa is a healer in the poor area where she grew up. When both she and her little sister are initiated to serve the Draekon, they think everything is about to fall apart. If you are a fan of dystopian books like The Hunger Games, this book might be for you. If you are a fan of dragons, I would also recommend this book. The interaction of the healer with the royal family definitely starts the rumor mill churning at full force...and there are surprises around every corner in this book. I look forward to reading book 2 when it is released.

Get ready for loads of gripping adventure with this book, and if you are a fan of fantasy and adventure, you will enjoy reading this book, though I'd recommend you start this series with book 1 if you haven't already read them in order thus far.

Review: Everlasting Kingdom

Everlasting Kingdom Everlasting Kingdom by Stephany Wallace
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. This is the third book in The Winter Court Chronicles, and it's the story told primarily from Nyx's POV. This book is packed with adventure, fantasy, magic and so much more. If you are a fan of fae, dragons, adventure and PNR, you'll enjoy this book. I'd recommend reading the books in this series in order, but I think most of it could be enjoyed as a standalone if you decide to switch up the series order a bit.

Dragon School: Bright Hopes Dragon School: Bright Hopes by Sarah K.L. Wilson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. I love this series, and this book just shows how much Amel values the friendships she's formed in this story thus far. Potential danger is on the rise for those she loves, and she must decide whether her improved health is worth more than her friend's life and happiness. I'd recommend this book and series to fans of YA fantasy and dragons...I just can't wait to read the next book!

Review: Empires of Shadow and Ash: A Limited Edition Collection of Dystopian Urban Fantasy Novels

Empires of Shadow and Ash: A Limited Edition Collection of Dystopian Urban Fantasy Novels Empires of Shadow and Ash: A Limited Edition Collection of Dystopian Urban Fantasy Novels by Heather Marie Adkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am writing this review based on the story Witch of the Midnight Blade by Kristen Austen Radcliffe. I really enjoyed reading the book, and felt it was very realistic in many ways at the start. Philadelphia works with the elderly in a retirement community. Everything appears very normal...until the introduction of abilities makes an appearance. This story seems to range from casual to arms in the air insane by the end of it all. I would recommend the book to fans of urban fantasy.

I was blown away this set also contains two books by one of my favorite authors, J.A. Culican. The first story is a novella where Culican paired up with Melle Amade and produced a wonderful story about a girl that is engineered and raised alongside a group of guys, where they are treated as slaves and forced to mine underground areas daily. You get to experience everything from interactions with trolls and dwarfs, and even discover the existence of dragons by the end of it all. Get ready for a wild set of experiences with Elemental Origin.

Review: Talented

Talented Talented by Sophie Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this novel. I really enjoyed the focal point of the story, primarily Natalia and her dorm mates and training partners, Henri and Erik. The characters in this book were fun to get acquainted with, and I felt this novel was fairly well rounded.

The primary focus of this novel is fixated on a special school that caters to educating and training 'Talented' youth. Since Natalia has chosen to be put in ranks with the Hunter training course in an attempt to get revenge for the death of her parents....it's full of surprises. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys supernatural, dystopian, shifters, romance or coming of age styles of writing.

*posted after my 2nd reading of this book*...i MUST remember to move on to the rest of this series SOON! What happens next?

Review: Courage Of A Highlander (Lairds of Dunkeld Series)

Courage Of A Highlander (Lairds of Dunkeld Series) Courage Of A Highlander (Lairds of Dunkeld Series) by Emilia Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. In this story, Lady Rubina and Sir Camden both share their own experiences with falling in love, dealing with tragedy, and overcoming it all to come together as one. The characters are wonderful throughout the entire Lairds of Dunkeld series, and I love the picturesque imagery that surrounds each edition. If you are a fan of historical romance and redemption though hardship, and are looking for sweet romance without erotic overtones, you will enjoy reading this book and series.

I'm writing this review for the story Sky of Fire and Ash by Audrey Grey and Julie Hall.

I really enjoyed reading this story. Fallon and her best friend Pip set out to bring destruction to dragon kind...until the unthinkable happens, and Fallon discovers she must fight for the other side. The characters really stick out as you read this story, and I can't wait to read more about this world in the next book.

Review: First Spell

First Spell First Spell by Lucia Ashta
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. Isa discovers an entire new world all around her in this book, and the cast of characters work together to reel you in as a reader. If you are a fan of magic and YA friendly reads, you won't be disappointed by starting this series. This is the first book in a new series that is actually a spin-off of another magical series written by Lucia Ashta; The Witching World. You don't need to read that series to understand this one, or vice versa...just get ready for nonstop adventure and magical madcaps along the way.

Review: Vampire Princess

Vampire Princess Vampire Princess by Rosemary A. Johns
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. Whatever preconceived notions you may have of the angel world...just throw those right out the window before you start on this series. Book 1 in the Rebel Angel series was fairly intense and full of surprises...but just wait until you get into this book! It continues right where Vampire Huntress left off, and the shocking moments don't seem to stop until the very end.

I would recommend this book to fans of the paranormal, especially where angels and vampires are concerned. Can't wait to read book 3, Vampire Devil!
