Surviving Amber Springs
by Siobhan Davis

Series: Standalone
Genre: Contemporary Romance/ Reverse Harem
Age Category: Upper Young Adult/ New Adult
Release Date: 26 December, 2018

Book Description:
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone…

I’m the second-most hated person in Amber Springs.

First place honors go to my twin, Ethan; however, hate isn’t a strong enough word to convey how people feel about him.

Not that I blame anyone—some days, I hate him too. Mostly, I’m just lost and afraid, drowning in a sea of betrayal and guilt, wondering how this happened right under my nose.

There’s no choice but to leave. To move clear across the country in a last-ditch attempt to start over.

Transferring to a new school midway through senior year is hellish for most people. For me, it’s a welcome relief—until someone discovers our secret and now everyone knows.

The pointing, whispering, and scathing looks follow me around again, and I’m back to square one. Except, this time, I’m not alone.

Axel, Skeet, and Heath took me under their wing from the minute I arrived here. I’ve no idea why three of the hottest guys in town took any interest in me or why they continue to have my back, but I’m so grateful to have them in my corner.

Because, right now, they’re the only reason I’m not following my brother into an early grave.

Due to sensitive content, and possible triggers, this book is recommended to readers aged 18+. Full length novel.

Review: Knight of Iron & Stone

Knight of Iron & Stone Knight of Iron & Stone by Stephany Wallace
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. This is the third book in The Curse of the Lycan series, and it's filled with new experiences as Luna learns to embrace her rightful place in the world and makes new discoveries about those close to her along the way. If you are a fan of werewolves, shifters and all things fantasy-related, you will enjoy reading this series. I do recommend you start off with the first book in the set, though.

Review: Ready Player One

Ready Player One Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. I've already watched the movie at this point, so I found it fun to kind of follow along with the plot of this story for the most part. This was a very nostalgic experience for me, and I've already been a gamer since my experiences with the Atari, so I was able to get most of the tech and video game references.

The audiobook is narrated by Wil Wheaton, and the experience of listening to this track could have only been improved a bit if the talents of George Takei had been included to read for the parts that involved Daito and Shoto. However, I found listening to this audiobook a wonderful experience, and finished it up in only 3 days. :)

If you choose to take on this journey across the vast Oasis, IT'S DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE! TAKE THIS (sword)...and get ready for the hefty bit of geekdom set before you. If you are a fan of video gaming in any aspect, and you enjoy dystopian reads, you will probably enjoy reading this book. It involves a grand quest, danger (drat those sixers), epic adventure, tragedy and a bit of romance.

Review: The Witch Who Killed Christmas

The Witch Who Killed Christmas The Witch Who Killed Christmas by Jeannie Wycherley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this 'lighter side' fantasy read. It is an enchanting holiday story that involves a witch, an inn staffed by ghosts, a snowstorm and a cute little own named Mr. Hoo. If you are a fan of witches and ghosts, you will probably enjoy reading this story.

Review: Prophecies of Silver

Prophecies of Silver Prophecies of Silver by Amalia Altman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. This story focuses mainly on Sophie and the mysterious book that is delivered to her family bookstore that she knows nothing about. When a wealthy individual calls for her to visit and bring the book along, things definitely start to get a little weird. If you are a fan of dark mystery books, you will enjoy reading this edition.

Review: House of Darken

House of Darken House of Darken by Jaymin Eve
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters are great, and it's interesting to get to know them as the story progresses. A vibe of strangeness seems to hover over this book from the start, and the reason behind that reveals itself over time. There are four factions of a group of elites that seems to be rivaling each other, and that's just the start of this series. I'd recommend this book to fans of sci-fi, the slightly odd and fantasy reads with quirky curiosities.

Rogue's Quest Rogue's Quest by Sarah K.L. Wilson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. This is the first book in the newest Dragon School series, and this time around you meet Tor and the female dragon Saboraak. I'm definitely ready to embark on new adventures with this pair. If you are a fan of fantasy, dragons, and adventures, you should invest in this series. You can read it even if you haven't read any of the books in the previous series without risking any spoilers (though I still recommend you read the first set if you haven't already).

Review: Ashes of Eden

Ashes of Eden Ashes of Eden by J.L. Myers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed reading this book. It provides a twisted view of what most of us would expect to encounter in the heavenly realm. The good guys are not quite so, and the bad guy - not so much. If you enjoy fantasy books that include angels and skewed perceptions just a bit, you should check out this book.

I really enjoyed reading this novella. It's a continuing story about Allie and her experiences as a captive mixologist and her adventures in space. Plenty of danger and suspense in this little gem. If you are a fan of sci-fi and space drama. It ends on a bit of a cliffhanger...can't wait for the next book in the series.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is the second novel in the Subterranean series, and Nori & Cooper experience a variety of occurrences ranging from grieving to dangerous to hopeful in this novel. Nori discovers that higher powers (so to speak) are secretly behind the sunlight-borne illness she was born with that keep her confined either indoors or underground. Review: Be Your Downfall

Be Your Downfall Be Your Downfall by Lizzie Fox
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. Please be aware of the fact that this novel deals with mental illness and all of the roads that have to be traveled as a couple learns to trust and love each other when having to deal with said issues.

I felt I could really relate to Jess the most, as she cares for and remembers how to be present for Seth, given the fact he's bi-polar. The storyline is realistic and that fact made this book more enjoyable to me, personally. I would recommend this book for other readers that might consider themselves closely tied to the experiences and influence of mental illness, and I found it refreshing to experience this along with the main characters in the book.

This story was absolutely gripping, I managed to finish it in very short time. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Review: Case: 2

Case: 2 Case: 2 by May Freighter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book (and finishing up the series with this edition). In this book, Annalise ends up mixed in with the battles between the races (as in, purebood vs. modded). She is paired with a confusingly persuasive new partner on the force, and ends up seeking out her first love and previous beast, Mavel.

Heartbreak, mystery and enchantment is all wrapped up with this final novel in the series. If you are a fan of futuristic novels set a dystopian society that contain advanced tech, you will enjoy reading this book, though I recommend you start by reading Case:0.

Review: Surviving Amber Springs

Surviving Amber Springs Surviving Amber Springs by Siobhan Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. That being said...this book may be a difficult read for many women. It is told primarily from the viewpoint of a survivor, so please keep that in mind if you are considering picking this book up.

This standalone book is based in the real world, and deals with the aftermath of living life after suffering abuse. It is a somewhat emotional read with steamy excerpts of the reverse harem nature included as it is part of Blaire's healing process as she discovers what really came to pass with her brother's situation.

Again, this book is not necessarily for everyone...as it deals with issues that are a little hard to swallow, but if you are willing to take a chance, the story is inspiring and ends on a positive note.

Review: Jaguar: Uncanny Valley, Book 3

Jaguar: Uncanny Valley, Book 3 Jaguar: Uncanny Valley, Book 3 by C.A. Gray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. This is the third book in the Uncanny Valley trilogy, and if you haven't read any of the books in this series yet, you should definitely give it a try! I was roped in from the start of book 1. This sci-fi series combines futuristic environments with robotics, androids, scientific advancements beyond belief at times.

This book has a definite 'Terminator' vibe to it from early on...and you get to experience the fear along with the other human characters in this book as they try to come up with ways to keep safe when Jaguar attempts to become omniscient. If you are a fan of futuristic novels that have scientific edges and a bit of danger mixed in, I'd recommend you read this book. It will be a more enjoyable experience if you start with Book 1 in this set and read the trilogy in order.

I really enjoyed reading this book. We've got the outcast that isn't sure where she belongs in the eyes of society who has the most supportive and lovable friends ever. The bad boy that doesn't seem to care, but then betrays that facade when he saves Ember with a noble act. Review: Case: 1

Case: 1 Case: 1 by May Freighter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved the first book in the Annalise Storm series, and was excited to get started reading this edition as soon as I could. I just re-read it yesterday to get ready to prepare myself for book 3 in this series that should be releasing soon.

In this book, Annalise is trying to make things work without the assistance of her 'beast' - that she has always loved...and learns out of nowhere everyone assumes she is engaged to another. She then is forced to work with him as her new partner on the force, and finds it terribly frustrating and a bit suspicious that she can't seem to keep her eyes off of him.

This story starts out seemingly simple...the guy wants the girl and the girl tries to resist...but as you read, you learn there is more to the story. The Storm family trying to keep up appearances and thus maintaining their power in society and Annalise is simply trying to set herself apart from the stigma that surrounds her family name.

If you are a fan of futuristic sci-fi fantasies with detective work involved and a bit of romance, you will enjoy reading this series.

Review: Damaged

Damaged Damaged by Becca Vincenza
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved reading this book!

When I first started this book, I honestly had no idea what I was getting into, or where the journey would take me. I absolutely loved this book! I never expected the story to take the journey it did after reading the first few chapters, but I'm so glad I stuck in there.

Audrey is the MC in this story, and while it may seem a little confusing at first, it's very easy to catch on as the pages progress. It is packed with supernatural goodness (and/or dangers) in many forms, and definitely left me craving book two. I would recommend this book to fans of paranormal romance that are seeking more. This novel also has an edge of mystery and a looming sense of all around peril from page one. I can't see what happens next in this story!

I really enjoyed reading this book. This is the fourth edition in the Rebel Angels series, and there is plenty of action combined with snarkiness throughout the pages of this book. Like the other books in this series, a sleek combination of darkness with wisps of light drives Violet and her fam of supernaturals closer to the end- or maybe it's just a matter of striving to survive. I really enjoyed reading this 'trilogy' (this is NOT just a re-branding of the story, as one reviewer attempted to point out)...and it contains the first three books in The Lost Clan series.

I have already read the first book some time back (Rose Petal Graves), and I enjoyed it then, but found I was able to get into the story a bit easier this time around. I was able to read book 2 (Rowan Wood Legends) and book 3 (Rising Silver Mist) this time around as well.

I enjoyed reading this book. I gave it 4 stars (actually, around 4 and 1/4 or so) because though I found it hard to get into this novel from the start, I found I did enjoy how the story unfolded as time progressed. I do plan to read other books in this series, but I don't feel wildly driven to run to the next book right away like I have felt after reading the first book in other fantasy series. I would recommend this book to fans of fantasy that involves medieval family lines, a class of people that all have powers, and the ever classic fan favorite of a love triangle.
