Review: Wings of faith

Wings of faith Wings of faith by R. Murray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. The Dark Blood trilogy is packed with adventure and the battle between parties in the search for immortality just doesn't seem to approach an end. Sammy and her white wolf shifter are on the run through this entire book, and she is constantly questioning why her mother deserted her, but rumor has it is now seeking her out. There is a lot of dangerous developments through most of this book, and I recommend it to readers that enjoy stories about treacherous vampires and promising werewolves.

Review: The Reapers

The Reapers The Reapers by Ali Winters
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a great story. I can't wait to get started on the second book in the series (The Exodus). It focuses on a reaper that happens to notice a guy that can see her, which obviously isn't supposed to be possible. The characters in this novel are all fairly well developed, with elaborate backgrounds and interesting elements that tie them all together. This is the second book I'm reading right now that fixates on reapers of sorts...and I found it a very entertaining and well put together read.

Review: Mermaid Inc.

Mermaid Inc. Mermaid Inc. by Caroline Mickelson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lighthearted read

I was seeking out a fun book to lighten my mood, and this book definitely helped. It focuses on an ocean creature loving mermaid and her desire to do her part to protect sea life for all. It is light and fun, a short read, and I would recommend this novella for mermaid fans that don't have a lot of spare time to dig into a full length novel.

Wow...just...wow!

I'll admit from the start I found myself a bit hesitant to stick to this book...but I'm glad I hung in there. Two alpha personalities hit it off, with plenty of immortal madness and steam in this PNR.

Review: Lost Soul

Lost Soul Lost Soul by T.G. Ayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. The worlds were easy to picture, and the characters all had their own elements of charm, be it positive or negative in nature. I strongly recommend you read this series in order...otherwise you might feel lost if you are just getting started with any book but the first edition in this set. Kailin strikes out on new adventures in this novel, and she makes many new discoveries along the way. I would recommend this book for readers interested in fantasy with shifters and other supernatural presences.

Enemy's Queen: The Aermian Feuds Book Three Enemy's Queen: The Aermian Feuds Book Three by Frost Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. This story entranced me from the very start and kept my attention all the way through. With this book you should prepare yourself for strong heroines, elements of both good and evil royal lines, mysterious twists, wretched trickery... there is really just too much to include here without including a spoiler. I would recommend this book for readers that enjoy medieval tales with well developed characters that you can really relate to.

Review: Sound of Silence

Sound of Silence Sound of Silence by Ali Winters
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. I would strongly recommend this read to individuals looking for their next sci-fi/dystopian novel; it includes aliens, a mysterious widespread disease, an unbreakable interspecies bond, loads of danger and a few surprises along the way. This book is marked as a standalone, but I think it might have real potential and it would be interesting to see where Ray and Jace end up in later editions if it ever ends up morphing into a book series.

I really enjoyed reading this book. This is the second book in a series about a human girl that discovers she is also part kitsune.

I'd recommend this book for readers that enjoy YA fantasy.

Review: The Path of Zaan Trilogy

The Path of Zaan Trilogy The Path of Zaan Trilogy by C.K. Rieke
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Road to Light (The Path of Zaan Book 1):

I enjoyed reading this book. It goes into a bit of detail, and the names may throw you off at first if you're not already familiar with these characters...but the story holds up and makes for a great fantasy read. If you're looking for your next great adventure, I think you may have stumbled upon it. :)

The Crooked Knight (The Path of Zaan Book 2):

I enjoyed reading this book. Zaan is the protagonist...and when he happens across this mysterious red stone, things start to get real. This book is definitely a full on adventure, complete with dragons and epic battles.

I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys adventure based in a fantasy setting, and I would advise that you start with the first book in this series before delving into this one, though I don't think it's entirely necessary. I received a free copy of this ebook from the author, but wanted to share my honest opinion about it here.

The Devil King - TBR...I haven't gotten the chance to read this book in the set yet, but I'm really looking forward to reading and reviewing it soon.

Review: Thirteen Reasons Why

Thirteen Reasons Why Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I will be the first to admit that when I first heard mention of this book around literary circles, I was anything but interested. Having been through quite a few major hard times myself as a teenager, and struggling with more thoughts of self-harm and suicide than I'm willing to admit...interspersed with multiple attempts...this was definitely not the most comfortable book for me to read.

That being said, I surprisingly found I did enjoy watching the show on Netflix. I only watched an episode occasionally...so as to not get too sucked into the concept, but was curious to find out what was the same or different in the book. To be honest...I was torn between giving it 3 stars (liked it) & 4 stars (really liked it). It was a difficult read, but because I watched the show first, I knew generally what was coming...it prepared me.

There are a few changes that are obvious between the two (show and book), but I found myself tearing up in both cases. Not so much for the girl that makes the tapes or the boy listening to them, but the potential relationship that will never come to fruition due to the end result. I know that's actually what this book is about. It's a focus on the choices we each make every day, and how those can cause either positive or negative reactions on those around us.

Let me tell you what this book is NOT about. It was not written to 'glamorize suicide', as many people seem to claim on their reviews here. It was not written to make light of teenage situations and angst...I feel it it was written to bring those issues to light. Believe it or not...despite the warning signs that others might think could mean someone wants to end life...they are not always present. I do feel making a point to mention how some of these can secretly have a negative effect on this girl might really help others realize that it's okay to take note when they notice something troubling those around them to try to prevent this from happening to others.

I'll admit the episode where I actually found myself tearing up on the show was the same as the emotional mark in the book for me...when they arrived at Clay's tape. That was honestly my main reason for wanting to read the book so soon after watching the show...I wanted to know if I would still have the same emotional response to seeing it written on a page. Task accomplished. This book is a hard read for anyone that has struggled with thoughts (and still has off days) of suicide, but I do appreciate the fact it doesn't keep how harmful even the smallest things we do could be on those around us.

The characters were well developed, and we get to embark on another adventure with Aria and Damian in this publication. It is ideal for YA readers, and strongly recommended to readers that have already experienced other books in The Runes universe published by Ednah Walters.

I enjoyed reading this book. It picks up right where book 1 left us, and gives us more detail about the relationship evolution between the three teenage MCs. I found this to be an enjoyable book that shares more detail about Lexus and the two hot guys that are interested in her, and how are all are offered an invitation to join an exclusive school to give them an outlet to help them 'develop' their abilities.
