Review: Red Queen

Red Queen Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed reading this book. I gave it 4 stars (actually, around 4 and 1/4 or so) because though I found it hard to get into this novel from the start, I found I did enjoy how the story unfolded as time progressed. I do plan to read other books in this series, but I don't feel wildly driven to run to the next book right away like I have felt after reading the first book in other fantasy series. I would recommend this book to fans of fantasy that involves medieval family lines, a class of people that all have powers, and the ever classic fan favorite of a love triangle. As stated before...I will probably read other books in this series...but I don't feel any sort of rush to get to it. *shrugs and walks away*

Review: Ascendant Light

Ascendant Light Ascendant Light by Sarah K.L. Wilson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this edition. This book contains many epic battles, many close calls...and many unexpected end results. I have enjoyed keeping up with all of the Dragon School books in this first season, and I'm really looking forward to reading future books in this set. While I may have grown attached to Amel (with all her uncertain strength) and Raolcan (the wise and snarky purple dragon) over this first set of 20 novellas, I can't wait to see what happens next in this DS world.

Surviving Amber Springs
Surviving Amber Springs
by Siobhan Davis

Series: Standalone
Genre: Contemporary Romance/ Reverse Harem
Age Category: Upper Young Adult/ New Adult
Release Date: 26 December, 2018

Book Description:
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone…

I’m the second-most hated person in Amber Springs.

First place honors go to my twin, Ethan; however, hate isn’t a strong enough word to convey how people feel about him.

Not that I blame anyone—some days, I hate him too. Mostly, I’m just lost and afraid, drowning in a sea of betrayal and guilt, wondering how this happened right under my nose.

There’s no choice but to leave. To move clear across the country in a last-ditch attempt to start over.

Transferring to a new school midway through senior year is hellish for most people. For me, it’s a welcome relief—until someone discovers our secret and now everyone knows.

The pointing, whispering, and scathing looks follow me around again, and I’m back to square one. Except, this time, I’m not alone.

Axel, Skeet, and Heath took me under their wing from the minute I arrived here. I’ve no idea why three of the hottest guys in town took any interest in me or why they continue to have my back, but I’m so grateful to have them in my corner.

Because, right now, they’re the only reason I’m not following my brother into an early grave.

Due to sensitive content, and possible triggers, this book is recommended to readers aged 18+. Full length novel.

I enjoyed reading this book. Tiana de Rossi finds herself placed in the safety of the library on the ritzier side of town...but she works as ringleader with a shadier crew by night while assuming her brother's identity. Tiana refuses to limit herself to being just her mobster daddy's 'protected little girl'. If you like reading urban fantasies with strong female protagonists I'd recommend you check this book out.

Review: Sunscorched, A Post-Apocalyptic Thriller

Sunscorched, A Post-Apocalyptic Thriller Sunscorched, A Post-Apocalyptic Thriller by Jen Crane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. Nori is cursed with a very real allergy to the sun...if she ventures outdoors in daylight, she dies; she only goes out to enjoy a few hours of dark before the sun rises again. When news of another sunscorch hits the town, she is entrusted into the care (or lack thereof) of an individual that they think can get her to a safe location before the danger strikes, but her story is just unfolding in this book. I would recommend this story to fans of urban fantasy and dystopian style novels.
