I really enjoyed reading this book. This is the tale of Francis and the intrigue surrounding Claudine, both as a woman and as someone that suffers from a mysterious illness that she never seems to be able to overcome. You are able to take part in the wariness that surrounds her situation, as witness first hand the love and devotion Francis offers as he seeks out a way to improve her health and gain her trust.
If you are a fan of historical romances, you should definitely start reading this book. I believe any book in the Lairds of Dunkeld series can be read as a standalone, though each one covers a different romance from another member of the same family line.
