Insatiable Darkness by LM Preston
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I give this novella about 4.5 stars.
I really enjoyed reading this novella. It focuses on EmVee, a girl that trains in fighting and has just moved into this new town with her family. She feels like something is off about the newest town they've moved to, but can't quite put her finger on why it feels this way.
I don't want to give away too much in this review, since this is a novella and prequel, not a full length novel. That being said, the main reason I give it 4.5 stars instead of 5 is that the fantasy based aspect of this book did not come into play until you are nearly done reading it...with no hints of anything alluding to it when reading the entire beginning of the book, despite the fact that the cover alludes to it having a very strong mystical presence.
All that to say, I did enjoy this story line and getting to know the characters in it. I look forward to reading more books in this series in the future. I'd recommend this book to people that are fans of books about jocks and professional fighters told from a YA safe perspective, with a low key paranormal flair that gets very real very fast, but won't peek around the corner until you are close to finishing things up.
