I really enjoyed reading this book. You get introduced to Ariah, as well as a full cast of characters that are well developed all have their parts to play along the way. Relationships reign in this book, both those that have been present from the time of characters' youth, those that are adopted between these individuals later in life, and finally those that are strictly being enforced by others.

Expect regular exposure to powerful magical elements, as the protagonist here is working to learn to control her powers from early on. If you are a fan of YA fantasy with a harsh medieval flair, you should definitely invest in this book. I am definitely looking forward to reading the second book in this series.
