Saven: The Complete Series by Siobhan Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I absolutely loved this series! I was on the edge of my seat through every book of this series. The first book was so captivating, I expected this series to head downhill fast...oh, how wrong I was! This book series is ideal for fans of YA/NA and sci-fi combined with full on fantasy reads...and would probably even appeal to individuals that feel that the sci-fi genre just isn't for them. I rank this entire series so close to five stars all around, you might as well round the full count up (note...I did give one book just under the complete 5 star ratings due to the lack of outright pizzazz when compared to the others...see below). I'm enclosing my individual reviews of each book below, just to give you a peek into each book in the series.
Book #1: Saven Deception
This is the second series I've started by Siobhan Davis (The Kennedy Boys was my first). I'm totally hooked! A great cast of characters have been developed and there is a slight hint of mystery to this story, as you're not sure who's the 'good', 'bad' or neither until it's near the book's end.
This series is ideal for readers that love sci-fi, or even for those that aren't huge sci-fi/space opera fans. It's a YA friendly novel that will grab onto you and leave you wanting to continue the series! I received a copy of this book for free but wanted to share my honest opinion about it here.
Book #2: Saven Disclosure
After reading the first book, I was so excited to get started on book 2. There is so much that happens in this book, and if you started with Saven Deception, then your appetite has most likely been set in place to read more about Sadie & Logan and their adventure that could lead to either discovering universal unity or enduring grand destruction. I am totally hooked, and can't wait to read book 3...I definitely need more...NOW!
I would recommend this book (and series) to fans of sci-fi and/or those that enjoy coming of age type stories. I promise, this whole series is like an improved take on the concept presented in 'The Host' by Stephenie Meyer...sci-fi writing style that should appeal to those that aren't already fans of the genre. I am currently reading the boxset of the Saven series as an advanced readers ecopy that I received on my kindle fire, but I wanted to voluntarily share my honest opinion about this book here.
Book #3: Saven Denial
OMG! This was only a novella stuck in the middle of this series? There is seriously so much going on in this book...I didn't even realize it was intended to be a short inclusion in this set until it was over and I saw 'novella' written on the title page.
Sadie endures being kidnapped (again), finding out she's fallen in love (again), discovers she has previously hidden powers (not 'again'...but how cool is that? And didn't part of her realize this last one all along?). My mind is still reeling from the excitement of reading this little novella...and it's been an absolutely mind blowing experience. This book includes time-travel on several accounts...but the ways in which it was used will seriously blow your mind.

To be honest...I've been so glued to this series...I ran my battery in my kindle fire out completely...time to recharge so I can find out what happens next *bites nails*
Book #4: Saven Defiance
I give this book a ranking of about 4.75 stars
I'll admit there were a few moments that didn't grip me like the previous novels in this series (thus the partial star rating). That being said...this book contained many thrilling experiences, some fast paced and some outright frightening. Sadie loses a friend...gets mixed up in a slightly messed up love triangle...discovers an unrealized family bond...and on and on and on.
This book delivered all the twists and turns I've come to expect from books in the Saven series by Siobhan Davis, and I've been reading and even re-reading some of the more exciting moments, just to make sure I don't miss a thing! I would highly recommend this series to any reader that is a fan of fantasy tales and sci-fi stories...and even to those that aren't sure if they like sci-fi writing in general. It is a coming of age style tale set in the far future that will totally blow your mind.
I received a copy of the Saven boxed set and fell in love with it from the start...I felt I had to share my honest opinion about this amazing story here. I highly recommend you check it out.
Book #5: Saven Deliverance
I agree with a few of the other reviewers here...because this story might have felt just a little rushed, and didn't contain the same huge epiphanies that I fell in love with from all of the previous books...I decided to rank this book 4.5 stars. I received a free ecopy of the boxed set this book is included in, but I wanted to share my honest opinion of this book here.
That being said, out of all the books, despite the aliens on every page, space travel, futuristic elements, etc etc...I felt Saven Deliverance felt like it contained many more sci-fi specific elements than any of the other books in this set. It was an enjoyable read, and I really enjoyed the ride as I breezed through the whole series (with the exception of a few novellas I haven't gotten around to just yet) in a matter of days...it's truly addictive. I don't really consider myself to be a huge fan of the space opera/sci-fi styles of books, but this one just reached out and grabbed me from the first chapter on!
I would recommend this book to fans of sci-fi and fantasy novels or coming of age style books that have already read the main novels in this series beforehand. It contains a few swerves here and there (not quite the twists and turns thrown at you from previous novels), and the story is able to wind down with all around happy endings.
